Our Red Wine is a blend of Merlot, 28%Malbec/ 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1Cabernet Franc. “Merlot,” the dominate grape in this blend, is the diminutive of the word “merle,” the French name for a blackbird, perhaps in a reference to the color of the grape. It is thought that Merlot, like Cabernet Sauvignon, is the offspring of Cabernet Franc. Merlot was initially planted on the left bank of the Gironde River, but is now grown worldwide. Our blend produced a dark, red wine that is full-bodied with lush, velvety tannins and intense flavors of blackberry, black pepper, and anise.
