Mourvèdre is named after an ancient city in Eastern Spain. Mourvèdre has a tendency to both bud and ripen very late. It is the last grape that we harvest each year. The variety prefers "its face in the hot sun and its feet in the water" needing very warm weather, low leaf-to-fruit ratio, and adequate water to produce flavors of grilled plum, smoke, and black pepper.

Tempranillo is the diminutive Spanish word for “little early one,” reflecting its early harvest dates in the Rioja region. We harvested our tempranillo in early October, 2012. These grapes thrive in extremes of daytime and nighttime temperatures making them perfectly suited to the climate in Paso Robles. Its thick skin produced a ruby-red wine with flavors of bing cherries and gloves. The dark, velvety texture of this wine will go perfectly with grilled meat, chicken, stews, seafood, and aged cheese

Arneis (which means “little rascal” in the Northern Italian dialect of Piemontese) is so-called because it has been somewhat difficult to grow in Italy. However, in the Paso Robles AVA, the climate appears to be ideal for this grape. With an early harvest (September) and stainless steel (no oak) processing, we have produced a dry, full-bodied white wine with bright flavors of apple, minerals, and white peach with a structured finish.
