Blended for ripeness and boldness, the ‘DS' is a luxury appeal for both collectors and hedonists. After tasting several blends, this finally won the panel’s consensus. Only four barrels made the final cut, and we believe we have blended something very special. You can’t fake a wine like this. Lay it down 5-10 years, or open it now with your favorite steak.

Very complex nose that marries bright red and black berry fruits, baking spice, Asian spice, cherry, cranberry and gorgeous layers of complex dusty earth. The wine is bright, juicy, balanced and nuanced in the mouth. It is unusual for a wine this young to show so much bright fruit and earthy complexity at the same time.

Explosive red and black berry fruits in the nose, edge of jammy with oak toast and baking spices. Medium-plus garnet in color with a sexy and bold nose filled with bright and primary red and black berry fruits, hibiscus, and candied orange peel. Oak is present, but not over-powering. Good for 7-12 years in the cellar or early-drinking. Match the young wine with salmon, mushrooms, duck or pork loin. When aged, try with COq au vin or risotto.

Color is a dark garnet, somewhere between the hues of the 2009 and 201 Exquisite aromatic intensity. Broad red and tangy black berry fruit character with hints of spice, black tea, orange peel and dusty minerals. In the mouth the wine is tangy, structured but also generous and ripe with excellent verve on the attack with long and complex layers of primary fruit: blackberry, cherry. Chewy and dense as an infant—even the ‘regular’ blend has a ‘VS” sense of entitlement and breadth. Finishes with dense fruit layers, cocoa nib hints all framed with ample coastal acidity for aging.
